Portable and Canvas Labyrinths

Portable labyrinths, painted on canvas and other lightweight materials, have become very popular since the mid-1990's. Suitable for events, workshops, temporary installation and travelling presentations, many hundreds have been produced in a bewildering array of materials, styles and designs. While replicas of the Chartres Cathedral labyrinth remain popular, a number of innovative designs, better suited for limited indoor spaces, have been created especially for this medium. Another recent innovation, "finger labyrinths" carved on wooden boards, are designed to provide a tactile experience of the labyrinthine pathway, which can also be navigated with a marble or ball-bearing as a test of hand/eye co-ordination.
