Labyrinthos Website Updated - 20/02/04

Stage II of the overhaul of the old Caerdroia & Labyrinthos website is now completed. Hopefully this will have removed most, if not all, of the bugs that were lurking as a result of the combination of the old Caerdroia site with the new pages for Labyrinthos.

Various new pages have been added, including details of our tours and consultancy services, and a new Bibliography section with recommended reading lists and an extensive catalogue of maze and labyrinth related books, papers and articles themed by general topics. Further additions have also been made to the Labyrinthos photo library and more pages will follow in due course.

The next stage of the website update will follow soon: the long-delayed revamp of the Links section, which is now several years out of date. If you have a mention on our Links pages, please check it and let me know what it should now say - thanks.

Other new additions to the site include several new articles in the introduction and archive sections, including a two-part study of Labyrinth Typology. Explore and enjoy!

Labyrinths & Mazes - just published - 28/09/03

Well, it has taken over two years to produce, from start to finish, but finally both the USA and UK editions of Jeff Saward's new book "Labyrinth & Mazes" are now available. Published by Gaia in the UK and by Sterling in the USA, with 224 pages and over 400 colour photographs and illustrations of labyrinths and mazes, ancient and modern, from around the world, this is surely the most comprehensive and up-to-date historical survey of the subject.

Minotaur - a New Maze in Northumberland - 04/08/03

The Kielder Partnership has just announced their new contemporary maze entitled Minotaur. This latest piece of impressive public art can be found in the heart of rural Northumberland, UK. I've included a couple of UK media stories that highlights Minotaur's launch:

Labyrinth Society website re-vamped - 26/07/03

As a founding member of The Labyrinth Society (TLS), and a current serving member on its board of directors, it is a great pleasure to see the Society flourish and particularly to have been involved in the construction of the new TLS Website. With lots of new features and some glitzy design and graphics, as well as a wealth of links to members sites, etc., if you are looking for somewhere to post your labyrinthine questions on a discussion forum, then you should also check the new Labyrinth Society discussion forum. The page displays were a bit quirky at first, but it seems the initial problems are being ironed out. As with the original website, the TLS site contains a wealth of interesting information and, of course, details of the forthcoming 5th Annual Labyrinth Society Gathering - this year it's being held in Baltimore, 6th - 9th November 2003.

Caerdroia website re-vamped - 25/07/03

After a hiatus of some two years with just minimal maintainance, the time has come to revise and relaunch the Caerdroia Website. Over the next couple of weeks a whole host of updates and new pages will be posted, including a new section for Labyrinthos. Further development of the Labyrinthos section and some additional items for the Caerdroia Archive section will go online during September.

Labyrinth 2000

Jean Dark has written a report on the conference that Labyrinthos hosted in Saffron Walden during the summer of 2000 - and Adam Warren has provided some photos taken on our splendid day of labyrinths. It may take a couple of minutes to download, but if you were there and still have fond memories, you may care to read the report.

Kudos

Although a number of sites have given this website awards, I have never felt it necesary to publicise them. However, I was pleased to receive an email from Ted Nelson, one of the founding fathers of the Internet (he coined the word 'hypertext' during his research) that simply said "Your 'Caerdroia' site is exceptionally elegant. Thanks." :-)

And Finally....

My thanks go to Adam Warren, who originally produced and maintained the Caerdroia Website, until he handed it over to me some years ago. Pressure of work has kept me away from adding much to the site since then, but now with the workload of writing books easing, the time has come to pick up the reins once more and continue Adam's good work.
