Maze & Labyrinth
Catalogues, Locations & Guides

Looking to discover the whereabouts of your local maze or labyrinth, or checking to see what is near your planned holiday destination? There are a number of websites that can help, some more comprehensive than others, and our listing below is surely the most comprehensive "list of lists."

Some of these links are to specific catalogues, others are to websites with information on labyrinths and mazes in their local area. I don't guarantee that you will find that elusive labyrinth in Outer Mongolia amongst these recommended sites, but gradually the number of countries and regions covered is increasing.

The following regions are listed below:

General & Worldwide
Europe
USA & Canada
Central & South America
South Africa
Asia, Far East & Australasia

If you maintain, or find, a website that provides further useful locational information, especially in regions not covered below, let me know and I will add it to the list.

General & Worldwide

Check these general listings for your region or country of choice, before moving on to more specific location sites. Between them, these two two databases provide the largest overall listings of labyrinths and mazes respectively...

The Worldwide Labyrinth Locator
Launched May 1st 2004, this new service, jointly operated by The Labyrinth Society and Veriditas, promises to be the most comprehensive online catalogue so far, with over 2000 labyrinths already in the database and new sites added almost daily. A user-friendly search engine and the facility to upload your own local labyrinths are also included. The Labyrinthos webmaster is also the administrator of this new website, so you can be sure that it will contain a whole lot of labyrinths!

Adrian Fisher's World Maze Guide
Adrian Fisher, the world's most prolific maze designer, has an extensive catalogue of mazes (and some labyrinths) worldwide. Many of those listed are his own creations, but there are a whole bunch of other locations, including some in regions not listed by anybody else. Start your search for a-maze-ment here!

Europe

While some European countries have comprehensive listings of labyrinths and mazes available online, others, such as much of Scandinavia, have yet to be catalogued, despite a wealth of labyrinths to document. Here are those currently available that I am aware of that contain reliable, up to date information...

America & Canada

The last few years has seen an explosion of interest in labyrinths in the United States, and a concomitant number of websites spring up that list labyrinths in particular cities, counties, states and regions. Some are catalogues in their own right, often provided by labyrinth enthusiasts and community groups, others are simply adjuncts to individuals websites. While some overlap information with others, and some states are not yet covered, the following list will hopefully prove helpful to find publicly available labyrinths across the USA and Canada...
